Meet Pippa

Yesterday I had promised to blog about the wedding I shot on Saturday, but just as I sat down to get cozy with the computer and go at it, I decided to check my facebook real quick... and that's when it happened!  "My water broke and we're on the way to the hospital."  Ok so before you start thinking, "What?"  MY water didn't break - haha - nope, Julie's did.  And that is when I grabbed my camera, tossed a few things in my camera bag and took off for the hospital.

I arrived at the hospital ready to shoot, but unfortunately Julie had to have little Miss Pippa via c-section, so hospital policy said I had to wait in the nursery.  Patiently Impatiently I waited as the clock ticked,... and then I heard the nurses in the next room talking about the little girl just born, how light her hair was, etc.  It didn't take long before the little bassinet pulled into the nursery and I got to go at it.

Pippa. Is. Perfect!  I'm pretty sure that you'll agree on that!

I was HIGHLY emotional while shooting this session, almost feeling like I was stealing moments that belonged to Julie.  Getting to meet her precious little bundle before her didn't seem fair at all, but then I was reminded that that is the real gift of what I do - weddings, babies... my subjects are the same.

I have the opportunity of capturing moments that are often missed, moments that pass in the blink of an eye, but are also some of the most important milestones of life and through my camera, they can be remembered and looked back upon forever.

Of course, it took mommy some time to recover after Miss Pippa arrived, so I stopped back in tonight to see how Pippa and Mommy were holding up.  Both are doing well and we were even able to get a few shots of the two together!  But we'll save those for later this week!

Congrats Shawn and Julie on your beautiful addition and thank you for the rare and wonderful privilege of photographing Pippa's first moments.

Welcome to the world little Miss Pippa!

beautiful... great job, Brandi! You are completely correct in saying that you get to capture the moments missed. You did a great job of that as my wedding photographer. I'm sure these pictures will mean so much to Julie & her husband. I know the pictures that were taken of Seth in the hours between me delivering him and actually meeting him physically are so very treasured now as I look back on them. Keep up the great work!
